Become a volunteer and help support grieving children and teens. Just fill out the PDF volunteer application and send it to The Solace Tree, P.O. Box 2944, Reno, NV 89509.

The fee is $25.

Volunteers work directly with grieving children and teens twice a month (eight to twelve hours) in peer support groups. A 24 hour, four day training (with course fee) is required. Volunteers are required to make a one year commitment to our program.

Volunteering Time to Help Grieving Children and Families

The Solace Tree has met the needs of hundreds of children and family members. There would be no Solace Tree without the commitment of volunteers who have come forward to work with these participants in grief.

The volunteers enable the children and adults to talk about the things they can't talk about at school or with peers. It is the volunteers in each group that provide safety for the children and families to share their grief.

The Solace Tree runs its programs on the traditional Washoe County School District schedule. Volunteers do not work on holidays.

Solace Tree is looking for advisory members, clerical help, board members, and help with fundraising.

Donations

All donations are tax-deductable. The Solace Tree is raising money to someday provide a home where children, teens, and families can obtain support from trained volunteer/facilitators under one roof. Children need a safe place to grieve their loss with their peers - a place where they can see they are not alone.

The Solace Tree is asking for donations of safe toys, school and office supplies/equipment, as well as arts and crafts supplies.
