No one wants to have a discussion with their child about red code drills and make sure that they know what to do; to stress how important it is to follow directions and listen to their teachers during a critical and frightening time. No one wants to send their child to school to learn how to hide and stay safe from an active shooter, but after the tragic events of yesterday, we understand that these conversations, and other difficult ones, need to take place.
Today, The Solace Tree joins the nation and grieves the senseless loss of 17 lives taken yesterday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. As parents, we know that some of you may also be affected by this and we encourage you to reach out to your friends and family to talk about these sensitive issues. Please remember that we are here to help if you need professional advice and guidance, especially when it comes to understanding and talking to children of all ages. Don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us on 775-324-7723 or email us at info@solacetree.org.
